Voltz Clarke will be showing at Pulse Miami Beach (Booth C16) highlighting works from Laura Mosquera and Bradley Sabin. Mosqeura describes her work,”Architecture is the creation of defined space. I use its language to articulate my interest in constructing scenarios and configurations, as symbolic or metaphoric confined spaces. These are dynamic, sometimes aggressive compositions inspired by a contemporary, urban environment. It is an exploration of our physical and psychological world with the foreground and background often shifting to undermine our perception of what is. Color, pattern and texture are used to lure the viewer while enhancing the chaos of the environment within the specificity of their construction. The work takes advantage of the materiality of the paint to simultaneously exhibit a concrete stillness and optical speed.”

An avid gardener and sculptor, Bradley Sabin finds inspiration through the nature around him. He describes his work as a metaphorical equation to the care and time which is needed to have a healthy garden to human relationships that also require nurturing and protecting to flourish. Bradley Sabin is southern born and his sculptural installations take him all over the world.

Peter Marino is responsible for designing some of the world’s most beautiful boutiques—Chanel, Dior, and Louis Vuitton, to name a few. On December 3, the Bass Museum of Art will open One Way: Peter Marino, which will explore his relationship with art, displaying works by artists like Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Richard Serra from the architect’s personal collection, as well as a number of cast-bronze boxes designed by Marino. Later that night Design Miami/ and the Miami Design District will hold an exclusive dinner to award Marino with the inaugural Design Visionary Award.

Don’t even try to crash this party on December 4 at Wall if you’re not invited—guests have to go through three checkpoints and a tough door crew. Those lucky enough to score the week’s most-coveted invite and get into this swanky bash, hosted by arty party boys Alex Dellal, Stavros Niarchos, and Vito Schnabel, will have the privilege of drinking endless amounts of Dom Pérignon poured from Iris van Herpen-designed bottles and the possibility of rubbing elbows with VIPs like Kanye West, Kim Kardashian West, Carmelo Anthony, and Lenny Kravitz.

Those who bopped around to “Hey Ya!” and “Ms. Jackson” during the height of OutKast’s fame in the late ’90s have a reason to get excited. The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and the SCAD Museum of Art (SCAD MOA) are unveiling an exhibition on December 2 at MANA Miami (318 NW 23rd Street) titled i feel ya: SCAD + André 3000 Benjamin. The show explores fashion, film, and art through a conversation between 47 jumpsuits originally created by the OutKast front man for the hip-hop duo’s 2014 tour; large-scale abstract paintings by Jimmy O’Neal; and an experimental film by Greg Brunkalla. SCAD president Paula Wallace will have a panel discussion on December 3 at 3 p.m. with Benjamin and Brunkalla about the exhibition, which makes its way to SCAD MOA next year.

A few luxury labels are going for fashion-meets-design fusions this year: Bally is holding the art exhibition Triangle Walks in an original mid-century Jean Prouvé house in the garden of the Delano from December 3 to December 7, while Louis Vuitton is presenting an unrealized project by the late French designer Pierre Paulin for Herman Miller from 1972, along with 18 original pieces of new furniture in Playing With Shapes, a Design Miami/ satellite exhibition at the Palm Court (140 NE 39th Street, Suite 326) from December 2 through 7. Meanwhile, Fendi will present a project at Design Miami/ with Milan design firm Dimore Studio.

Instagram star and illustrator Donald Robertson (aka @donalddrawbertson) is going to attend Art Basel, he’s not going to just make a statement but a full-blown “spectacle.” His next endeavor entails winning over and “kissing up” (quite literally) to the art world. The plan all came together at a “drunky dinner” in L.A. with the Smashbox team, a beauty brand he recently teamed up with during his stint at Colette. After successfully selling out of lipstick wrapped in a sleeve of his design at the Parisian retailer, it took only a few glasses of champagne to convince the company to get on board with his next project. His idea? To fill up the trunk of a 1974 Cadillac El Dorado covered in ketchup-colored pouts (a common motif in his work) with lipstick and drive it cross-country—stopping in locales such as Tucson, Arizona; Marfa, Texas; Austin, Texas; New Orleans; and Gainesville, Florida, en route to Miami. Those who visit the car during its journey will receive a free limited-edition Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Bing (a cherry red) covered in the same art as the automobile.

Ian Schrager’s newly opened Yabu Pushelberg-designed Miami Beach Edition is hosting a number of events, including an intimate, invite-only dinner, followed by a decadent grand-opening party with W magazine and David Lynch’s Paris hot spot Silencio, featuring a performance by the dance-inducing group Blood Orange on December 2. Expect to see a number of bold names in art, entertainment, and fashion there, with W editor in chief Stefano Tonchi and Ferragamo hosting the launch for the new book W Stories on December 3. That night, Yabu, Pushelberg and London’s most fabulous gay night, Horse Meat Disco, will hold a disco party in the basement. The next day, style icon Inès de la Fressange and Bruno Frisoni will fete Roger Vivier and Ambra Medda’s limited-edition Miss Viv’ L’ArcoBaleno bag with a luncheon there at 1:30 p.m. Later that night, Visionaire will celebrate its Visionaire 64 ART John Baldessari Platinum Edition at Tropicale, while Marlborough Chelsea presents a performance installation by artist duo Jonah Freeman and Justin Lowe. On December 5, Paddle8 and ACRIA will welcome all their inner circle for a family-style dinner to honor artist Ryan McGinley.

Solange Knowles may have just tied the knot with music video director Alan Ferguson, but that doesn’t mean she’s going on an extended honeymoon. Knowles and her record label, Saint Heron Records, curated the music program for the Select art fair.

The singer—who is also a known supporter of the arts (artist Mickalene Thomas designed the cover for Knowles’ 2012 EP, True, and artist Rashaad Newsome created the cover for the Saint Heron compilation album)—recruited a few artists to perform at the fair’s amphitheater space at 7 p.m. from December 2 through 7. The program is free and open to the public, but capacity is tight—the venue holds only 1,400 people—so make sure to get there early!

The Miami Beach Edition isn’t the only new kid on the block: The just-opened Thompson Miami Beach, an Art Deco jewel, is also having a week of festivities during Art Basel. Interview and Dsquared²’s Dean and Dan Caten will kick off the week on December 2 with a dinner at chef Michelle Bernstein’s Seagrape restaurant. After dinner, they will host a huge grand-opening soiree for the hotel that will double as a celebration for Performa’s 10th anniversary.
